چکیده

We propose a moving mesh adaptive approach for solving time-dependent partial differential equations. The motion of spatial grid points is governed by a moving mesh PDE (MMPDE) in which amesh relaxation time τ is employed as a regularization parameter. Previously reported results on MMPDEs have invariably employed a constant value of the parameter τ . We extend this standard approach by incorporating a variable relaxation time that is calculated adaptively alongside the solution in order to regularize the mesh appropriately throughout a computation. We focus on singular problems involving self-similar blow-up to demonstrate the advantages of using a variable relaxation time over a fixed one in terms of accuracy, stability and efficiency. Moving Mesh Non-standard Finite Difference Method for Non-linear Heat Transfer in a Thin Finite Rod

In this paper, a moving mesh technique and a non-standard finite difference method are combined, and a moving mesh non-standard finite difference (MMNSFD) method is developed to solve an initial boundary value problem involving a quartic nonlinearity that arises in heat transfer with thermal radiation. In this method, the moving spatial grid is obtained by a simple geometric adaptive algorithm ...

A fast and simple method for modeling of oil swelling in Co2 injection

In this paper, the role of molecular diffusion in mobilization of waterflood residual oil is examined. A moving mesh method is applied to solve the moving interface problem of residual oil blobs swelling by Co2 diffusion through a blocking water phase. The results of this modeling are compared with experimental results of a 2D glass micromodel experiment. Although, the solution method is applie...

Recent Advances in Schwarz Waveform Moving Mesh Methods – A New Moving Subdomain Method

It is well accepted that the efficient solution of complex partial differential equations (PDEs) often requires methods which are adaptive in both space and time. In this paper we are interested in a class of spatially adaptive moving mesh (r-refinement) methods introduced in [9, 10, 12]. Our purpose is to introduce and explore a natural coupling of domain decomposition, Schwarz waveform relaxa...

A Schwarz Waveform Moving Mesh Method

An r-refinement (moving mesh) method is considered for solving time dependent partial differential equations (PDEs). The resulting coupled system, consisting of the physical PDE and a moving mesh PDE, is solved by a Schwarz waveform relaxation method. In particular, the computational space-time domain is decomposed into overlapping subdomains and the solution obtained by iteratively solving the...

Helicopter Rotor Airloads Prediction Using CFD and Flight Test Measurement in Hover Flight

An implicit unsteady upwind solver including a mesh motion approach was applied to simulate a helicopter including body, main rotor and tail rotor in hover flight. The discretization was based on a second order finite volume approach with fluxes given by the Roeand#39;s scheme. Discretization of Geometric Conservation Laws (GCL) was devised in such a way that the three-dimensional flows on arbi...
